After the serpent led Eve into sin and she led Adam into sin, the Lord began to pronounce the consequences upon all three for what they had done.

The Lord said to the serpent,

“And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”
(Genesis 3.15).

The seed of the serpent would bruise the heal of the seed of the woman.

Simultaneously, the seed of the woman would bruise the head of the seed of the serpent.

What is the difference? A bruised heel hurts, but is recoverable.

A bruised head is fatal. The action of stepping on the head would hurt the heel.

Jesus of Nazareth is the Seed of Woman and He destroyed the works of the devil, and at sometime in the future, Jesus shall cast the devil into hell.

“Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil…” (Hebrews 2.14).

“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3.8).
