What God promised Abraham and Isaac, He later promised to Jacob,

“Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 28.14).

Isaac had two sons. Through whom would the Seed arrive into the world? 

The Lord chose Jacob, so that even as the Lord promised to Abraham and Isaac, so then the Lord promised numberless descendants through Jacob.

Truly, in Jacob’s Seed all the families of the earth would be blessed. And Luke 3.34 shows that Jesus of Nazareth descended through Jacob.

Just what was this promise that all the families of the earth would be blessed? First, the Lord made the promise to Abraham, then to Isaac, and here we discover that the Lord made the promise to Jacob also, making wonder at the grandeur of this promise.

What was it?

Well, not until we get to the New Testament will we discover just what that promise was, and how it is for anyone in the world.
